I ran into the same problem a lot of you did after doing this mod....When you bypass or remove the governor, those parts are spinning much faster than designed. If the rod lets go, there's a good chance it will window the case, ruining the engine. If the flywheel lets go, it can be worse. That flywheel is around 6lbs of cast metal that's spinning at 5,000 or so rpm on an ungoverned engine.Coleman ct200u ex. Couple tips. I left the left side of chain guard cross brace long, and cut the right side off flush. Took nothing to add a bracket to the left side stub to reattach the chain guard.
